Enhancing Building Energy Innovation & Co-Benefits

This Area of Inquiry examines the benefits and drawbacks of energy innovations for community housing at the neighbourhood level. By modelling and mapping these innovations within a broader community energy system, this Area will provide actionable insights for improving energy efficiency and sustainability in community housing, contributing to Canada’s climate goals and tenant well-being.

Runa’s work is motivated by real world issues such as climate change and sustainability. In particular, her interdisciplinary research explores the assessment and practice of environmental and social sustainability with a specific focus on energy-related issues. She examines the human dimensions and determinants of energy use, energy literacy, environmental and energy justice and pro-environmental behaviour change.

Royal Roads University

Rob’s research focuses on integrated planning and policy, stakeholder engagement and sustainable community development. He applies system thinking to identify relationships and tensions among critical sustainability imperatives, particularly climate change mitigation and adaptation and biodiversity conservation, and other sustainability objectives.
